pacland - fantastic score (MJS)

Post by kranser »

Congratulations MJS on your fantastic PACLAND score! Round 29 looks extremely difficult!

I'm already looking forward to seeing you beat this attempt, :-) and hopefully finish the first loop.

Well done for your efforts MJS and for keeping your first place in this great game!

Kranser.

He still needs to get all of the flowers on Trip 1. :)

Other than that, quite excellent.

btw, do you actually get anything when those flowers pop up? I have played pacland some and see those flowers pop up now and then but can't pick them etc. so figure it's likely some bonus points for them.

I guess I can watch my inp to see if the score changes when the flowers come out.

I'm not sure if worth playing anymore though with a master like MJS around. :P

Starting in spots in trip 5 and especially trip 6 you have to really know the world to get through it well. it would take a lot of playing to get that familiar with it.

I think you get a points bonus at the end of the trip if you get all 8 flowers. Something like 80k or so?

Thanks for the feedback! It's nice to hear you enjoy watching my recording.

Don't worry, sooner or later I will.

Damn... which one did I miss this time Barry?

He will. I've been talking to him since the "pac-land war" and he is a great guy.

I wonder the same thing. Maybe someone who can read japanese could tell us if the following website says anything? http://www.nsknet.or.jp/~otayan/lockon/pacland.html
Hisa posted the url in another thread claiming that it has all legends about Pac-Land.

And there's something else I want to learn and it could be explained there: How do you know which object to push (first, second, third...) to get hidden items (helmet/invicibility/balloons)? There is a way, because MASA.jp gets all items without trying everywhere!

Yes it takes a lot of time to get familiar with higher trips... I still have a lot of practice to do on trip 8 (as you can see in my latest inp @#$%!)

I play a lot of games but this one is my favourite because I never get tired of it. Well sometimes I do, but after a month or two I miss it and start playing again!

I guess the difficulty of the game is what I find attractive. You can develop some patterns, but if you play the game enough you'll realize they are not that useful. Skill will always be needed.

In fact, when I lose a life sometimes I get angry and smash the keyboard but sometimes I just laugh and try to learn from the mistake.

That's another cool aspect of the game: there are what, 9999 ways to die? :-&

I haven't watched it...but might just to see how hard trips 7 and on get...as well as point value of later fruits.

oh, I can help there. It's patterned....so if you find a certain object to push to get a helmet for example that same object will give you a helmet every game. The helmet is really the only object that seems useful in the first 5 trips at least. For example, on trip #1 the fire hydrant that you are at just as the cars stop coming out and you get the planes instead is a hydrant you can push to the left to get a helmet. I'm sure you know this, but it's patterned like that in each trip...just different spots.

I have gotten invisibility/invincibility on a couple trips but it's always right near the end of going "out"....like for 1 it's the very last cactus just before the "door" you fall down into before doing the return trip.

I have found a couple warp things also...that warp you to the start of the next trip. These are useless as you end up getting less points versus if you play through the trip(s).

DEFCON=6

you should ask such thing for the man "WHO KNOWS IT".
I think mac-mame cheater is completely worthless man. because he is just an ignorance complainer.
of course cannot get any worthy informations from him.
you do not have to waste your important LIFE time.

it is due to "the lowest 2 digits of score when stage starts."
Helmet of stage 1 does not move (score starts always "00".)
each stage has 2-4 moval objects. check the score when stage starts and movable objections. it is not so hard work.
stage 29(8-1) does not have any helmets.
good luck to beat masa!
If you beat masa, then you will be called "the king of pacland"

It seems to me you are CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING accusing me of being ignorant, a cheater, and complaining. Your last 5-10+ posts have done this.

I don't see anyone else but you showing massive disrespect to others the way you do here. We are tired of it man. Get past it or get the hell away from here.

Definitely the last one on top of one of the early houses in round 4. You often miss this one, but I've seen you get it before, so I know that you know it's there :) You might have missed the one in round 2 in the forest too.

wrong info makes more difficult.
your info "random" was a lie, ok?
The man without knowledge=ignorance. is not it?
if you know better than I (impossible) / or you do not show your poor knowlege for others, I never call one as ignorance for anyone.
you should keep silent. your are so poor.
#not only skill but also opinion,knowledge,effort,intelligence....

can you understand, macmame boy?

Thanks man. I have just tried and reproduced succesfully what you said.
To sum up: "movable objects depend on the tens of your score when stage starts".
Now if you excuse me, I have a lot of homework to do!

For example in round 2, the warp will be hidden:
  • - in the cacti when your score ends with 10 or 90
    - in the first log when your score ends with 20 or 60
    - in the second log when your score ends with 30, 50 or 70
    - in the third log when your score ends with 00, 40 or 80
My intention is to gather the same information for each round that has something hidden.
If anyone is interested, I will post my findings in this topic.

"the man who knows it" Hahahahaha haha, who did that :P

Japanese, those polite and nice people. Maybe somebody has to be so nice at work because of social rules, so he comes here to keep the balance. Good therapy, when.

Ok it seems to be the same for all rounds 8)

The object which has something hidden depends on the result of the second digit of the score % 4 (% being the remainder after division). So:

If the score ends with 10, 50 or 90 you will have to push "object 1".
If the score ends with 20, or 60 you will have to push "object 2".
If the score ends with 30, or 70 you will have to push "object 3".
If the score ends with 00, 40 or 80 you will have to push "object 4".

But you have to find out which is object 1, 2, 3 and 4 for each round. Object 2 is always after object 1, obj3 is always after obj2 and obj4 is always after obj3 but they are not always consecutive.

For example in the first round of trip 5 (round 17) the objects that hide the helmet are only the cactis. There are 3 of them at the beginning and 1 near the end of the round. The interesting thing is that you won't be able to get the helmet if your score ends with 20 or 60 (when the stage starts) because you will have to push object 2 which is the cacti above the other cacti (object 1). Try to push it and see what happens! :D

PS: Thanks again Hisa this will definitely improve my scores!
PS2: Don't be so hard on LN2... yes he was wrong, but we all make mistakes.
