Well, to start off, let me mention that MARP's TENTH anniversary is coming up on February 2nd, just three and a half months from now. Ghosts N' Goblins has a VERY important part of MARP's history... it was the game that pretty much started the democracy that came into being today.
What was so special about this game? Well, there was a lot of leeching and people were taking advantage of bugs that gave them infinite time. The result? Extremely boring recordings and unnaturally high scoring recordings. The rest of the story would take too much space here, and you probably don't care, so let's move on.
You won't be wanting to leech in this game for two reasons:
1. Leeching is not allowed in this championship.
2. THIS IS A TIME TRIAL!
I'm not kidding. The 12 people who complete the most stages in the least time will move on to the head-to-head finish. Score does not matter a bit.
Please note your game ends after you save the woman, which happens after the 2nd loop of stages, and the five life rule is NOT in effect.
The clock will start when you gain control of your character, and the clock will stop when you lose your last life, or when you defeat the final boss in the 2nd loop.
You may submit recordings to the forum if you wish. WOLFMAME+ 0.106 will be required here.
Also remember that the top 4 gets a free bye into the 5th round.
Good luck!

So how do we time this? Is there some nifty MAME function that counts up play time? Do we use the in game clock and add up the times? Do we time it manually <ugh> ?
And I take it that the number of stages is most important -- i.e., completing 5 stages in an hour beats completing 4 stages in 10 minutes?
Inquiring minds want to know......

Yeah, we need some more details on how we should be accurately tracking our time (or are the coordinators going to do this for us?).
If you don't finish the game, when does timing end? The exact frame you get killed?
If you do finish the game, does timing end on the frame you deliver the final shot to the last boss?

Another question, do you have to finish a full stage to get any credit for it? For example if two players both reach stage 2-3, but one only gets to the start of it, and the other gets to the boss at the end of it, is the rank between the players just determined by the time it took them to first reach the start of 2-3?
with this game my K6 is end

Loop 1, Stage 3, Area 2.
I presume scores are ranked by highest level reached, what with the possibility of re-doing the last two stages in a loop.

But for the calculating process, gameboy9 will give you the "how to" (i'm actually at work).
Cheers.
