2011 Time Trials - Round 1 - Knights Of The Round
Our first game is Knights Of The Round. You may remember this game from the 4th MAME Championships in 2004. I decided on this game looking for a good start toward my choices of games. Hopefully I'm off to that good start.
To help speed up your time, jumping is a little bit faster than walking, so keep that in mind as you go through each segment.
You need to complete one stage to move on to game 2, but you can only complete four stages before I consider the game completed for this round. I will count substages as well as stages completed for this round. A completed substage basically is the result of a mini-cut scene, which is something to the effect of the "hero" doing one of those medieval victory stances, the screen fading out, then back in to the next substage. There are two substages in stages 1, 2, and 4, but there are four substages in stage 3.
Timing will be calculated by taking the time used to complete each stage AS GIVEN BY THE GAME. That makes it easy on everybody and you don't have to try to fly by the end-of-stage scoring... unless you want to.
GAME: Knights Of The Round (World 911127) (1991)
GENRE: Fighting
DIR: knights
REQUIRED VERSION: 99 or 106
SCORING: xymmss, x = stages completed, y = IF YOU LOSE BEFORE STAGE 4, substages completed IN THE STAGE LOST, m = 59 - minutes used, s = 59 - seconds used - USE TIME GIVEN FROM THE GAME AT THE END OF EACH STAGE and add each time together.
MINIMUM: 1 full stage completed
MAXIMUM: 4 full stages completed
GAME TO SUBMIT TO: *tt2-game1
Let me know if you have questions or you don't think I said what I was aiming for correctly. Good luck to all!

Re: 2011 Time Trials - Round 1 - Knights Of The Round
Hi
I played Knights.zip - is the following correct:
-Completed Stage 1 (counts for 1 stage and 2 substages?) in 2m14sec..
-Completed substage 1 of Stage 2, ended at horsemounted Braford (counts for 1 substage?) in ?m?sec..?
So score would be:
1 - 3 - (59-2min)= 57 - (59-14sec)= 45 --- 135,745 'time units'..?
And my submission comment should be: TT2-game1 + other info, if necessary?
thanks

DaLar,
I'm sorry, I meant *tt2-game1... it has an asterisk so it won't count on our leaderboards... my bad.
I also misspoke on the substage business... it should have been number of substages completed IN THE STAGE YOU LOST IN... so your score is 1-1-57-45, 115,745. So again, my bad.

Sorry DaLar, please re-submit to the game *tt2-game1, not knights. That way, it keeps the time trial recordings separate from the regulation recordings. Sorry I'm not communicating this very well... I'm sure it will go much more smoothly after this round. Just gotta work out the kinks...

Oh hoo hoo, I like this game a little bit, I never tried neither heard it before (i've loss of knowledge about Capcom games...) and it has caught well my attention. But I must confess that I'm not so skilled in this genre and still 2nd boss is quite hard for my standards. Well, I guess and hope that I'll at least get to 4th stage into next 3 days in the meanwhile, I have also to understand all about score submissions (but I should have understood quite all 'til now)

Re: 2011 Time Trials - Round 1 - Knights Of The Round
Yeah, I like Capcom games too, but I'm not good at this game either... still, I love the music in this game for one... and I find the gameplay pretty good too from my perspective. Then again, that's only one opinion. Anyway, I would LOVE to get to the 3rd stage if I can beat that 2nd stage boss... he's a rough one! (reminder to all players: I'm not eligible to win because I obviously had advance knowledge of the games... but I'm going to "participate" just to see how I would have done)giro-X wrote:Oh hoo hoo, I like this game a little bit, I never tried neither heard it before (i've loss of knowledge about Capcom games...) and it has caught well my attention. But at any rate, when you are ready to submit an inp, take the inp and the wlf file that is generated in the INP folder (that should be a folder where MAME.exe is), ZIP it, then submit it to MARP under the game name "*tt2-game1". (not "knights", that's where regulation play recordings go... which is score-based) For this game, under the score column, give yourself 100,000 points for each stage you complete. If you die, give yourself an additional 10,000 points for each "substage" you complete. (see description of substages in the first post of this thread) Finally, add ((59 - minutes) * 100) + (59 - seconds) to your score, based on the time used in each stage as mentioned at the end of each stage in the game.
Hopefully that answers your inquiry, but if you need further assistance, let me know. Good luck!

That's not a problem... I'll calculate it on the leaderboard and I'll trust you all to change it to what I calculate.MassimoGaspari@AIVA wrote:(from last recording) ... Sorry but I have not figured out how to calculate the score.
P.S. It's 115,835 for that recording. Nice first stage you put out there at 1:25!

Re: 2011 Time Trials - Round 1 - Knights Of The Round
Rax:
Unfortunately, while the X was over the second pawn on the stage 3 map, the rules of this game stipulate that only when the screen fades out and back in is when a substage is completed, which doesn't happen until the stairs of the 2nd substage, so you're given credit for only one substage completed. Therefore, your score on MARP should be reduced by 10,000.
This being said, you're still in first place. (as of the writing of this reply)

Ok, I counted the yellow crosses in the map (during continue countdown), thinking they were the completed substages.
Improving, maybe this evening

Submitted my first "not-so-much-fine-but-we're-starting" INP, I hope it could be in rule with all.
I've done a shitty play, I must improve my skills on stages 2 and 3... and maybe 4...

Re: 2011 Time Trials - Round 1 - Knights Of The Round
If there are 4 substages in stage 3, my score should be 10000 higher, isn't it?
I didn't pay attention to the description about substages (initial post) and I supposed that there were 3 substages in stage 3, mistake for my part.
I was defeated by Arlon (boss of stage 3) so I think my real score would be 245602. Correct?

Well I haven't seen the recording yet, but score and version-wise, you're good to go. As for the play... I don't know, I think I picked a tougher game than I realized... nobody's beaten the third boss yet. But I was wondering if somebody was going to get a sub-one minute first stage... well... you just answered that question... well done!giro-X wrote:Submitted my first "not-so-much-fine-but-we're-starting" INP, I hope it could be in rule with all.

Well, there are four substages to complete, and you COMPLETED three of them. (the screen faded out three times before coming back in... once to penetrate the fort, again at the stairs to floor 2, and a 3rd time at another set of stairs to the boss's floor.) So, because I'm counting substages COMPLETED, your score, incidentally, is correct.el_fumador wrote:If there are 4 substages in stage 3, my score should be 10000 higher, isn't it?

I remember this game in K4. I was crazy playing it. It is very hard, but I´ll try do a good time. I´ll play tomorrow.
Long life to good games
