skito,
In order to watch tjt's tron,
all i did was use mame 35 tg 3
and pluck the rom out of new mame
put it in old version. No sound samples.
no cfg / no ini - simple
Default options (22ooo)sound , etc.
gonna play it again , slower
I had that emulation over 4000% :!:
tar.

Chad, I meant 16bits colour=high colour...what else...
OPTIONS-DEFAULT OPTIONS...
1600x1200, fullscreen, brightness 100%, gamma correction 1,65, high colour.
seal, directsound, 0db, 44100, 16, NOfmsynthesis, stereo, use samples...dont have samples at tron, but that was marked anyway.
Use mouse/trackball, keyboard, NOjoysticks or directinput

Draw every frame, drawonlychanges, use directdraw, double display size, horizontal scanlines
Use background artwork(non existant...)

some of these propably default values, otherwise defaults or nochecks at options not mentioned

Problem should be at sound options, some weird analog difference, processor, OS...???
I think you had previously with my analog -input-used- recordings some problems too, 720? Like some can playback my old mMarble recording but some can not . Maybe it has nothing to do with mame version or soundcard etc

couple of cfg's: Something maybe different at Tron.cfg now though. I might have changed a bit analog value.

Hope this helps.

Just booted - up again... Easy.
watched to 100,000.
took 10 minutes.
So...i estimate the entire game was about 260 min. (4 or 5 hours)
O.S. Windows '98 version A
Athlon 1.6 Ghz processor.

Let's see if it's all about analog settings/controls

Made 2 inps now. removed old tron.cfg. Played one game usin buttonsfor Tron's arm(tron.inp)-29833, and one game using spinner(trons.inp)-100184. Did not change analog values for neither game. mapped spinner-arm buttons to other though. If you try this Chad...if only tronS works, then this has something to do with using a mouse. used same game default settings as described previously(mame.cfg)

Yes, 100 000 points is little less 10 minutes, in the beginning scoring is little more slower because of slower levels, no diamonds and less enemies. At best I can score about 750K/hour, usual being 650K-730K/hour. Then again I like have my smoke breaks... :P

Many times an inp recorded with W98 requires same OS for playback too. I have P4 2,4 GHZ

sometimes playback goes for both dos and windows versions. You, Tar, being able to playback with default settings should hint us that the settings used for the game are not so important this time...problem lies elsewhere, but where? Or maybe mame32 is being too picky about playback this case...

I wonder what I wonder.

There is a windows version too. Often it works using any of the versions. I have not tried Tommis Tron yet though.

Definitely is NOT playing back with the windows version for me no matter what, i assumed it was with the windows version since you displayed all the windows like check boxes, no fm, stereo etc and said "M32"35tg :), i'll try again with the dos version, heh.

m3235tg doesn't have a 16 bit color mode, only 16 color, but it does have 16 bit sound (why you'd want to select that for tron i dunno :)

Playbacks perfectly for me with m35tg dos ; no special change made, just a "m35tg3 -playback tron" command line

Good old 35tg :)
