how can this be played back? tried mame79 and mame89 and mame69 on xp and 98, sound and no, still dies on first level.

He said he just unzipped wolf79 and it worked first time.

And no, it doesn't playback for me either.

doesn't playback using official mame79, but playbacks fine with wolf79. Ah, such a tasteless arkanoid clone 8O

Ok, got it to playback in wolf79, requires -nom68k_c_core. This suggests that he used MAME Plus and not MAME (the ASM 68k core was the default around then).
